Yankee Model Works Russian Akula Class Submarine Akula class boats were developed as mainstream weapons systems to form the backbone of the Russian submarine force into the year 2000. The large size of the Akula means they will operate in the Pacific ocean.
Using plans provided by sources inside the Russian Navy, the Blue Water Navy kit has all the details seen on the real boat. The kit measures 12.5 inches long. The hull is a single piece casting. Fine pewter metal make up the dive planes, and a small photo-etched brass sheet is included.
