The F4U Corsair aircraft went into production in 1942. There were different World War II aircraft variants and the F4U-1D Corsair was one of them. The F4U-1D was a fighter aircraft that served the US Navy during World War II and Korean War. It became the first United States single-engine production aircraft that was capable of reaching 400 mph.
